Pre-K Counts

The Long Run Children's Learning Center is proud to be a component of Pennsylvania's groundbreaking Pre-K Counts initiative!

Since 2007, the state has supported early childhood education by committing millions of dollars to make “quality pre-kindergarten opportunities available to children and families across the commonwealth.”

In partnership with the McKeesport Area School District, Long Run is responsible for operating two Pre-K Counts classrooms. The classes are located in school buildings, currently Centennial and White Oak Elementary Schools. The half-day classes operate during the MASD school year. The program serves up to 68 3-5-year-old children in AM and PM sessions of up to 17 students each.

Enrollment in PA Pre-K Counts classes is free to families who meet the “at-risk by income” requirement, which means at or below 300% of the federal poverty level.
